Manufacturers, engineering firms and industrial suppliers

Web design for UK manufacturers and engineering firms

Technical buyers do not read a manufacturing website, they mine it. What you make, what you hold it to, what you are approved for, how fast you can do it. All four go on the page in text, so the enquiry that lands is one you can price. How far the build goes past that is your call, not ours.

From £470+VAT for a straightforward site of four to eight pages. A designer calls you back within 48 hours.

The problem

Your capability is real. The website hides it.

Most were built once, as a brochure, by somebody who was never shown the shop floor. Six things go wrong.

The specification is inside a download

Materials, tolerances and the machine list sit in a PDF that buyers skip and search barely reads.

Enquiries arrive with nothing in them

Please send more information, with none of the detail needed to quote. Every one costs a phone call.

Approvals are nowhere on the page

Procurement checks certification and approvals early. If they are not visible, the shortlist gets built without you.

Made and factored look identical

Distributors and overseas buyers cannot tell what you manufacture from what you factor, so they go elsewhere.

The range is two years behind

Nobody internally can edit a product page, so the site still sells last year's catalogue.

It was built as a brochure

It says when you were founded. A technical buyer cannot extract a single specification from it.

What we build

We start from what you need, not from a feature list.

Industrial work does not sell like retail. The enquiry is technical, the buyer is comparing three suppliers on paper, and the decision is largely made before anyone rings. What that means for your site depends entirely on the business, so the first conversation is about what you actually need rather than what we could sell you.

A simple site is a perfectly good answer. Plenty of engineering firms need a handful of pages, a straight capability statement and a phone number that rings, and if that is you, that is what we quote for. What follows is the range we can handle, not a list every site gets.

Capability in readable text

Materials, processes, sizes, volumes and the tolerances you hold, on the page rather than inside a download. This is the part almost every firm needs, and it is in every build.

An enquiry form sized to the job

A name, a number and a line about the job suits many firms. If drawings arrive most weeks, we can build it as a full RFQ instead, with upload, quantity, material, finish and lead time. That one is quoted separately.

Specifications machines can read

The pages that carry a specification are marked up so it is machine readable as well as human readable. Part of the standard build rather than an extra.

Approvals where procurement looks

If you hold certifications they go somewhere obvious rather than a line in the footer. A panel on one page is enough for some firms, a page of its own suits others, and we will tell you which you are.

Written around confidentiality

Built from what you make and the tolerances you hold, so pages still work where customer names are confidential.

Only as many routes as you have

Where trade counter, distributor and direct buyers each need different treatment, we separate them. Where everyone rings the same number, one clear contact page is the honest answer and it costs you less.

What you get

Websites from £470+VAT

One fixed price and one delivery date, in writing, before any work starts. Nothing to pay until you have seen it working. Here is what is in every build, and then the things that only some firms need, priced on their own.

Starting at

£470+VAT

£470 to £1,000 covers a straightforward custom site of roughly four to eight pages. For a lot of engineering firms that is capability, processes, approvals, about and contact, and it is genuinely enough. A wide product range, a technical library or anything from the options below is priced on top, and you get the real number on the call, with a delivery date, before anything is committed.

In every build, whatever the size

  • Custom design drawn for your business, never a template
  • Capability, materials and process pages written as text
  • An enquiry form with the fields you want on it
  • Your approvals and certifications given somewhere obvious
  • Built mobile first, fast on a factory laptop and on one bar of signal
  • Technical SEO and a structure buyers and search engines both follow
  • Structured data on the pages that carry a specification
  • An accessible build: keyboard, contrast and screen readers
  • Domain, hosting and every login in your name at launch
  • Built in the UK by the people you speak to

Only if you need it

Everything here is optional, and quoted separately.

None of it sits inside the £470, because each one is a genuine piece of work on its own. Most manufacturers need one or two, plenty need none at all, and nothing goes into your quote unless you ask for it. Raise any of them on the call and you get a price for that item on its own line, which makes it easy to leave out.

We will also tell you when we think an option would not earn its money in your business. Saying no to work is cheaper for us than building something you resent paying for.

Request for quotation with drawing upload

Drawings or models uploaded with the enquiry, plus quantity, material, finish, tolerance and the date needed, arriving as one email you can price.

Product catalogue or ecommerce

A searchable range with filters, or full online ordering. A serious build, and worth it only if buyers really do order that way.

Logins for customers or distributors

Trade pricing, drawings or datasheets behind a login, so different accounts see different things.

Deposits and card payments

Taking money on the site where that suits how you trade. Most manufacturers invoice on account, so most do not need this at all.

Live chat

Genuinely useful if somebody is at a desk to answer it. If nobody is, it does more damage than a phone number that gets picked up.

Quote calculators and configurators

Length, material and finish in, an indicative price or a specification out. Only sensible where your pricing rules are firm enough to trust a machine with.

Product pages your own team can edit

A simple editor so somebody in the office can change a specification, add a size or take a line off without ringing us. Worth it where the range moves, wasted where it does not.

Integrations with what you already run

Stock, ERP, CRM or the accounts package talking to the site, where those systems will allow it. Scoped and priced once we have seen them.

FAQs

The questions manufacturers actually ask.

We only want five or six pages and a phone number. Is that too small a job?

No, and for a lot of engineering firms it is the right answer. Four to eight pages is what £470 to £1,000 buys, and that is usually enough for capability, processes, approvals, about and contact. If a handful of pages and a number that rings is what your buyers need, that is what we will quote for, and we will not talk you into a portal you would never log into.

Most of our work is under NDA. How do we show capability without naming customers?

We write the pages from what you make rather than who you make it for. Processes, materials, machine envelopes, tolerances, volumes and the sectors you supply. For a technical buyer that beats a customer list, and it puts no agreement at risk.

Everything is already in our PDF catalogue. Can you not just link to that?

We keep the PDF, buyers do download it and send it round internally. But a PDF is where a specification goes to hide: search engines handle them poorly and nobody reads one on a phone. So the content also goes on the page as text.

Can the enquiry form take a drawing?

It can, and it is quoted as its own item rather than assumed. Every build gets an enquiry form with the fields you want on it, and for plenty of firms that is enough. Where drawings arrive most weeks we build it as a request for quotation instead: upload for the drawing or model, plus quantity, material, finish, tolerance and the date needed, arriving as one email so your first reply can be a price. We will tell you on the call whether that is worth paying for in your case.

Our range changes. Can somebody here update a product page without ringing you?

Yes, if that is what you want, and it is priced separately because it is extra build work rather than something every site needs. Where the range moves often we set the product and capability pages up so somebody in the office can change a specification, add a size or take a line off without touching code. Where the range barely moves, it is usually cheaper to ring us for the odd edit. Either way you keep every login.

Tell us what you make.

Send a few lines about the business and a designer calls you back within 48 hours with a fixed price and a delivery date. The call starts with what you need, not with a list of features, and if we are not right for you we will say so on it.

By sending this you agree we can contact you about your enquiry. We never sell your data. See our privacy policy.

Or email hello@cdfdesign.co.uk directly. We reply to every enquiry.
