Transparency only half done
The SRA rules require price and service information published. Plenty of firm sites carry part of it, or none.
Custom websites for solicitors, conveyancers and small practices, from £470+VAT. Built so the information you have to publish is published properly, and scoped to how your firm actually works. A handful of clear pages and a phone number that rings is a perfectly good answer, and often the right one.
No obligation. A designer calls you back, not a salesperson.
The situation
None of it means the firm is badly run. It means the site was built once and never revisited.
The SRA rules require price and service information published. Plenty of firm sites carry part of it, or none.
A client cannot tell from your homepage whether you handle their matter, so they ring a firm that says so.
Conveyancing, probate and employment land in one inbox, then somebody sorts them by hand.
National providers put a number on the page. Publish nothing and the client compares that figure against silence.
Hard to find, or missing. That is a rule problem and a trust problem at once.
The people page still lists fee earners who left two years ago.
What we build
Almost every enquiry starts with somebody working out whether you handle their particular problem. So the first job is a clear page for each area of law you want to lead with, written around the questions clients ask. Most small firms start with the two or three that bring in the work, and add pages later when they earn their place.
The layout shown here is an illustration, a conveyancing page carrying a fee table and a matter specific form. It is the fuller end of what we can build, not a template you have to take. Plainer pages and one phone number work perfectly well, and for a lot of small practices that is what we would suggest.
Always included
These are not extras and they are not upsells. They come with every site we build for a firm, at every price, the smallest one included. We are designers, not compliance advisers. We build the structure and draft from what you give us, then your COLP signs it off.
Talk to a designerNot a template with your logo dropped into it. Designed around the work you do and the clients you want more of.
Most people look for a solicitor on a phone, often in a hurry. We design at that size first, with sensible contrast, real headings and labels, and keyboard navigation.
Titles, headings, structured data and a site layout search engines can read. Set up once, properly, so you are found for the work you actually take.
Laid out to the structure the SRA rules describe, for your COLP to sign off.
Where somebody is deciding whether to instruct you, with its regulatory page behind it.
Firm identity, SRA number and complaints procedure, where clients and regulators can reach them.
Written around the questions clients ask. Two or three areas suits most small practices to start, and you can add more as they earn their place.
Going to a named mailbox rather than a general inbox, over HTTPS, with bot protection and correct UK GDPR handling.
You own the site, the domain and the accounts. Nothing is held hostage if you ever want somebody else to look after it.
Before work starts, with a delivery date. The same thing your own clients keep asking you for.
If your firm needs it
This is the range we can handle, not a list of things you are expected to buy. None of it is included in the £470 starting price, and none of it is a condition of working with us. Plenty of firms need a handful of clear pages and a phone number that rings. That is a proper website, we are happy to build exactly that, and we will not push you past it.
Tell us how the firm actually runs and we will say which of these would earn its keep. For each one you want, we price it, tell you what it takes to run, and you decide. If we think you would not get your money back, we say so before you spend it.
Clients booking an initial appointment themselves, against the diary you already keep. Many firms would rather people rang the office, and that is a perfectly good answer.
Taking a payment on account or a fixed fee up front, where your rules on client money allow it.
Worth having if somebody is genuinely there to answer. Worse than nothing if the window sits unattended, so we will ask who is covering it before we build it.
A private area where a client checks progress instead of ringing for an update. A bigger piece of work than it looks, and priced as one.
If conveyancing, probate and employment enquiries land in one inbox and somebody sorts them by hand, we can split the forms and route each to its own mailbox.
A conveyancing quote worked out on the page, disbursements included, so the enquiry arrives with the numbers already in front of the client.
Enquiries into the system you already use rather than into email. What is possible depends on what that system accepts, so we look first and quote after.
Selling document packs or fixed fee services online, where that suits the way you work.
Pricing
That is where a small custom built site starts, not what every firm pays. As a rule, £470 to £1,000 covers roughly four to eight pages. Six areas of law with their own transparency pages is a larger job, and anything from the optional list is priced on top. You get the real number on the call, before you commit to anything.

One figure and one delivery date, in writing, before work starts. Nothing to pay until you have seen it working.

We build the pages to the structure the rules describe: the service, what is and is not included, the basis of the charges, disbursements, VAT and indicative timescales. We draft from what you give us, then your COLP signs it off. We are designers, not compliance advisers, and the figures have to be yours.
Yes, and we build the regulatory information page behind it, carrying your SRA number, registered office and the identity details a client or a regulator looks for. It goes where somebody is deciding whether to instruct you, not the footer.
No, one site. The £470 to £1,000 range covers roughly four to eight pages, so most firms lead with the two or three areas that bring in the work they want more of, and add pages later when it earns its place. If you want a separate enquiry form for each area, so a probate enquiry arrives as a probate enquiry, we can build that and we price it with the rest of the job.
Wherever you tell us, agreed before the build starts. A form landing with a named person rather than a general inbox is standard. Splitting forms by matter type to a different mailbox per department is straightforward. Pushing enquiries into your case management system depends on what that system accepts, so we look first and quote it separately. Every form runs over HTTPS with bot protection and correct UK GDPR handling.
No, and it is a common answer. Plenty of firms need a home page, two or three pages on the work they do, the information the rules require, and a number that rings. That is a proper website, it is what we would recommend to a lot of small practices, and we will build it without steering you towards a portal nobody will log into.
We can do all three, and client logins, fee calculators, ecommerce and integrations besides. None of it is bundled into the price on this page and none of it is a condition of working with us. We ask what your firm actually needs, tell you what each piece costs to build and what it takes to run, and you choose. Where we think you would not get your money back on something, we say so.
Send this and a designer calls you back within 48 hours with a fixed price and a delivery date. We scope to what you tell us you need, including telling you what you can leave out. We will say so if we are not the right fit.
